To our fans,
We wanted to take our time today to deliver a different kind of update, one that communicates more transparently about the current state of BLits Games and our projects – Jock Studio, our collaboration endeavor: Seven Nexus, and other behind-the-scenes development. We are actively listening to the community and wanted to take the opportunity to address some of the recent questions about our focus with our projects, and commitment to Jock Studio.
BLits Over the Years
Starting off, as you all know, BLits is an indie development company, founded by a small group of members debuting with our first title, Camp Buddy followed by its sequel, Camp Buddy: Scoutmaster Season – both of which have been successful releases and well-loved by fans. After these two titles, we pursued our most ambitious project yet: Jock Studio.
Two years ago, in August of 2023, we completed the Jock Studio Kickstarter Campaign with an amazing amount of success – we were able to achieve an incredible funding amount of $566,160 USD, which is unheard of for a Boys Love / Yaoi game, and we are so incredibly grateful to all of you for making that happen!
Our team and projects only exist thanks to the support from all of you, whether through buying our games and merch, spreading the word about our titles, participating with our community, and for always taking time to read our messages and showing understanding! This is exactly why we strive to keep up with our updates regularly – to ensure that the fans would always know what’s going on with our team and the games we develop. This time around, we wrote this letter for the fans, to give everyone a deeper look at what’s going on with BLits Games as a whole and we hope you take the time to read the full message!
Financial State of BLits in 2025
With the success of our two completed games, we were able to operate and grow the company as a whole. The sales of Camp Buddy and Scoutmaster Season are what sustains the costs of running the team, funding our side projects, and ensuring that everyone who works with us are properly compensated. Naturally, sales of older games tend to decline over time, as more fans have already supported and purchased them, therefore we try to introduce other items such as digital image sets and physical merchandise. However, due to the recent global tariff situation in 2025, it has put our physical merch production on-hold, directly contributing to lower overall revenue for the company. Combining these two factors – we are working with less resources to continue running our operations in the same way.
At the same time, Jock Studio’s development has proven to require nearly twice the funding raised through Kickstarter. This is something we identified at the end of the campaign, due to the massive scope of the game being upgraded from a visual novel to a full-on dating simulation game with several new and complex features. The increased scope overall also meant that we needed additional development time and resources to properly complete the project.
Our Solutions
In order to keep development running smoothly, we have taken several measures in 2024 as well as this year, including pushing some stretch goals from the Kickstarter Campaign to a post-release update, as well as refocusing on completion of core mechanics, story and artwork to ensure that Jock Studio is completed in as timely a manner as possible. We have also opened pre-orders of the game to continuously fund development. However, even with all of that, we are still working on additional ways to ensure we have funding throughout development.
Part of developing a large game like Jock Studio means that there are many interconnected pieces, often moving at the same time, but it’s inevitable that certain departments are left with downtime while waiting for their next task. When that downtime arises, we find opportunities to redirect idle members, and that’s when we choose to invest time into side projects – all without compromising quality by reallocating time from our key developers and artists to ensure we meet the high standard we always strive for. You’ve already seen some of these, such as the Scoutmaster Season: Side Stories DLC and Seven Nexus, but there is one more side venture we are excited to let the fans know about.
Since the beginning of 2025, we’ve also finalized an acquisition agreement with members of the disbanded BL/Yaoi circle BlackMonkey-Pro (BMP) for rights to certain titles primarily worked on by our members, including Mikkoukun and Zael. With the contributors’ cooperation, BLits now holds rights to these works and plans to re-release them for fans under the BLits brand. We thank the members of BMP for this opportunity, and we ask the fans to please stay tuned for further information about these side projects in the near future!
We hope that these side projects serve two purposes – to assist with our funding goals and Jock Studio’s development, as well as to continue to provide you, our fans, with quality content while Jock Studio is still being produced. We understand that the wait is long, and that there is a lot to be done, but we hope as well that this transparency and our regular development updates show how much love and care is being put into Jock Studio and the rest of our projects.
We will also be holding more limited-release merchandise and discount sales to offer more ways to support our ongoing development efforts. We’re very grateful for your interest and passion for these side ventures and rest assured that the proceeds will be properly allocated!
Common Questions
In addition to what we discussed above, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address some of the more commonly asked questions about Jock Studio and other BLits projects:
- Jock Studio does not have a set release date at this time. We will announce a release date once the project is completed.
- Android Version for Jock Studio, demos, and other projects are still being researched. We are currently focused on the development of core features and will dedicate more time to Android Version research once these are completed.
- Seven Nexus and other side projects do not impact Jock Studio’s development timeline. Seven Nexus is developed by our collaborator, HeartSkip Games, while other side-ventures are being properly scheduled within our regular operations.
- Physical Merchandise is still on-hold due to the constantly-changing global tariff situation. We are currently researching alternatives in order to allow us to sell merchandise again. However, we cannot confirm anything until we have more information.
We ask that you bear with us while we explore these concerns, and we thank you for your patience. We understand lacking information about these subjects can be frustrating, but we do not wish to make any announcements prior to having a firm answer that we can commit to. If you have further concerns that have not been addressed by us in this message, please feel free to e-mail us at: [email protected] and we’ll be happy to clarify any additional questions to the best of our abilities.
Closing Word
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read our letter, and we hope everyone understands the current situation and what we’re doing to mitigate it! We will always do our best to stay transparent with everyone during development times, and we hope that you will consider supporting the various different, exciting projects that we have in the meantime between now and Jock Studio’s release!
Speaking of Jock Studio, and on a positive note, there will be a Jock Studio development update next Friday, August 29, 2025 with further information and previews. Additionally, there are several other announcements and news on the horizon, so please stay tuned!
Thank you all for your constant love and support, and we’ll be back soon with another Development Update for Jock Studio!
~Lots of love,
BLits Games
I really like joke studio this game,it’s so fun,I really want to play the new content as soon as possible
I am most excited for the re-releases! It’s been too long, i’d love to see a Bacchikoi DLC also lol…
Hi ! I just wanna know if Camp Buddy or this kind of games need a VPN in china
The website in America won’t be able to use in china🤷♀️ btw does this game supports the IOS system
Hello, I’ve been watching you and buying your products for over five years. I was very excited when Camp Buddy: Scoutmaster season was released on Steam. I’m still waiting for the original Camp Buddy to be released on Steam. I’m confident that many people will buy it because this platform is very convenient for collecting games. It would be great to see the same iconic and beloved game, Bacchikoi, with its expansions, on Steam. (Also I’m not sure if your project is or not, as there is no detailed information anywhere. But I think the audience would be very happy to see Sleep Over on the shelves of the Steam store).
With respect and love, your devoted fan.🩷🩷🩷
Always supporting the great gob you are doing!! , By any chance are you guys thinking in creating a dlc for the original camp buddy, like another oath with other characters like aero or so?
Always support your work
Thank you for your support!
I asked this on Twitter but no one ever responded…but is there a way for us fans to support you guys financially without purchasing anything from the store?? Like a way to donate or tip!? I just wanna help D:
We really appreciate your interest and passion in supporting us! We don’t have any way of tipping or subscribing, so the best way to support is to enjoy the new products we release in our webstore, as well as spread the word about Jock Studio, Seven Nexus, and our other titles!
Hey, when I backed your project I knew I was in for a long wait, and I don’t mind it! I always took most of the bonus goals as post-release updates anyway and as for the BlackMonkey games, while it could dig up some controversy for you, I myself would buy the games, even if just to support you.
Thanks for updating us, take care and mainly feel free to take your time. We will wait a little longer if it means a more polished and content filled game.
And for all those who are pestering about the release date, it was said multiple times that Jock Studio would release ONCE READY and not at the release date set by the kickstarter deadline, which was only for shipping physical goods.
Even I knew that, without doing much reading, so if you didn’t, shame on you.
I do have to agree with some people saying the scope of the game you took on is far bigger than first expected, which is why I expected most stuff being a post launch update, however it is fair some goals have to be at launch given they’re part of the story/core gameplay.
Thats all for my rant, have a good day.
Thank you for understanding! We’re doing our best to communicate that our number one goal is to develop Jock Studio into a product our fans will enjoy, even if that means it will take a little while. The team is very hard at work behind the scenes, and we hope the development updates provide some transparency as to our progress! We’re committed to making sure Jock Studio is the best game it can be 🙂
I *really* don’t think yall should bring back the black monkey games. You guys are doing really well avoiding controversy at the moment and games like Bacchikoi are not gonna give your catalogue the best look, if you catch my drift. Let’s leave the era of young looking boy characters in the past please, it was kinda creepy then and WAY creepier now.
Thanks for your feedback! Hopefully it helps ease your concerns to hear that we’re not going to release all BMP games – only select ones that we feel make sense for us to do so. In addition, we plan to remaster the titles before we release them. A side effect of this is that the titles that will take more work to re-release most likely won’t happen until much further down the line once our team is more free to do so. We’ve taken that aspect into consideration when deciding which titles to consider doing first!
But do I understand correctly that BLits are going to re-release Bacchikoi after all? This is one of the most favorite and popular games of BMP and many of us want to play this game again please please please.
If someone doesn’t want to play the previous games, that’s their right ok, but I personally would like to see Bachchikoi, it would be a great happiness for me!
I’m still super hyped for the game, and will definitely get it when it comes out, however long that will take! Thanks for keeping us updated!
Thank you for your understanding and patience! We really appreciate your support and kind words!
This letter reads pretty tone deaf.
First and most flabbergasting of all, why wait until the projected release date to explain all of this to the backers? Seems like you’ve known for at least a year that the game wasn’t gonna meet the deadline.
Second, when you’re listing the problems you’ve faced like you could not have done anything about it. But the problems relating to stretch goals, the scope of the game and the lulls in development were things that you failed to see back then as a team. And yet there’s not a word on how you could’ve done better or plan to do better in the future. It feels like there’s a lack of accountability present through out the whole letter. Especially when the problems pointed out before stem from decisions made by the team. You failed Thrice at least, once during the campaign when you massively misrepresented the cost of the game and the stretch goals. Then right after when you realized your mistakes and decided that it wasn’t worth sharing with the bakers. And again when you doubled down on the expanded scope of the game instead of reducing it despite the resource problems.
The whole letter reads reactive and defensive. Yet it seems ludicrous to me that you completely failed anticipate bakers and the community feeling a certain way about the delay on the game when it is announced at the same time as a new unrelated project, and therefore didn’t have a better plan in place. I think we all can understand mistakes in budgeting and the difficulties to make an actual product out of an idea.
But after reading this open letter I can’t help but think that you’ve failed as a team, you’ve offered a veneer of transparency with the monthly updates in lieu of actual honest and clear communication. And with this letter you’ve failed to take accountability and to actually address and take in the community’s legitimate concerns.
As a backer I feel disappointed, ignored and lied to. I hope you do better in the future, if not for me for the rest of people in the community that still support you.
Hello, first off, thank you for your feedback – we understand your frustration. I’d like to take a moment and address the points and concerns you bring up.
Regarding Jock Studio’s release date, we have been transparent from the start that Jock Studio did not have a set release date. Kickstarter required a release timeframe, and we clarified from the beginning that the release date listed there was for delivery of physical merchandise. We have done our best to be extremely clear about the physical merchandise production process each month, as well as the development, with announcements about the release date regularly.
Regarding our response and what we’re doing, we have tried to address it directly with our updates – we show our progress so you can see how much time each step takes each month, as well as push back what goals we can to post-launch in order to speed up development time. We do not blame fans for being frustrated at the wait time, in fact, it’s the opposite. We sympathize with everyone’s frustration, and we are doing everything we can to speed up development while also maintaining the quality standards that BLits is known for.
Overall, to address your concerns as well as the comment below yours by Expanded, we do agree that Jock Studio is a far larger scope than we have ever taken on as a team. We always wanted Jock Studio to be full of the fun and exciting features we’ve created for it, and we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished, but it takes time and care to perfect all of this so that you all can have the best experience possible when playing the game.
All that being said, we do apologize for the frustrations again. The team is genuinely working as hard as we can, and we’re doing everything we can to both produce Jock Studio, as well as keep you all with content in the meantime. We just ask that everyone bear with us and provide us their patience and support.
Honestly, if there is something the fans should admonish BLits for, it’s the fact that BLits took on too much, and expanded their team too quickly. Bioware fell into this trap. They expanded their teams too quickly, due to the massive investment that EA put into them. I read this open letter as the same way. This is BLits’s way of saying, “we expanded our teams too rapidly, and we will course-correct in the future.” Personally, I would have been more than happy with another visual novel. It’s clear that BLits is good at making those.
I don’t want another great company falling into the same trap that Bioware did.
is SevenNexus coming before JockStudio? i would be very nice to have it soon, i think most of the people is losing interest in jock studio because of the long time (including me) there are already two years since you anunce the game and at this point it seems that we’ll have to wait 3-4 years more, i support the foundraising campaing and i was really hype for the game but as the time goes by i lose more and more interest, the fact of not having an specif date and leaving up in the air is very discouraging.
i think with the announcement and launch of the new game you can get new founds and keep the interest in the projects. Just my opinion and it is with all the respect and affection i have for your projects!
love you
Hi, regarding the Camp Buddy OST songs that disappeared from digital platforms, is this a temporary problem? I really enjoy listening to them, especially “Warm Touch.”
We are still working to resolve this issue with the distributor – we are hoping to have the music back up again in the future, but can’t say when exactly as we are relying on them to respond, unfortunately.
Honestly, I don’t mind waiting years for the game to be complete and well-made, rushing things isn’t always a good idea. I know you’re an incredible team and your games (like Camp Buddy and Scoutmaster Season) are of the highest quality.
I think it’s a great idea to make more campaigns and downloadable DLCs. Camp Buddy/ Scoutmaster Season has a lot of potential for several DLCs or short visual novels. I believe many of us were left wanting more scenes with Naoto (I really love him) in Scoutmaster Season, as well as with other characters. Creating an official manga, short stories or doujinshi about them could also be another option? Although it might also be a lot of extra work.
I also love that you’re bringing back the BlackMonkey games (I’ve been following you since then). Wishing you all the best!
Thank you so much for your understanding! We will do our best to ensure our team has a reasonable deadline, we want the game released as much as all the fans!
We appreciate the suggestions as well! Thank you again for taking the time to comment!
Thank you for keeping us informed and open about your current process. I only joined the Blit’s fandom after backing Jock Studio, and I’m excited to play the game. No matter what year it gets released, I will play it for hours on end the moment it launches on Steam. I’m always happy to support you guys in any way I can.
Thank you so much for your support! We apologize if your first experience with our project backing may have caused some inconvenience. We’ll make sure the wait is worth!
Not at all! No apologies necessary.I am a patient man, and I understand that you guys need time to make the game as perfect as it can be. I enjoy the art streams and playing the demo. I’m just excited for the game.
When I saw this article, I felt incredibly bad for it. I also saw quite a few people expressing dissatisfaction and expressing their opinions. I don’t want to see so many people abandon the game, and I want to support the team’s continued operations. However, I’m a bit confused: developing so many projects simultaneously is not only a financial drain, but also a significant challenge for the developers. Is this because you want to bring more growth to Jock Studio? I’d like to ask, do you now feel that you shouldn’t have changed Jock Studio’s visual novel format to its current format in the first place? Ultimately, I hope everything goes well.(BY Translation)
Thank you so much for your sympathy! The criticisms and disappointment are valid, as we, the developers, feel that too. We will continue to provide other content while we continuously work with Jock Studio.
Side projects currently do not affect Jock Studio’s development timeline, and is worked on by our other idle members of the development team. Factors such as story-writing are continuously ongoing, and becomes a bottleneck in all our development, as script programming and artwork are based on the story. Anything that we’ll make from our side projects will help us continuously fund Jock Studio.
We definitely have taken a huge challenge by exploring a deeper game mechanic through Jock Studio, but we definitely see a path to completion, it just takes more time and resources however.
Thank you for your insights!
Thank you all for all the hard work you’ve poured into this game and company! There might be a minority that are angry, or disappointed, but I feel that the majority of your fans and supporters understand and are so so grateful for your open communication and continual effort to create such an innovate experience. I can’t speak for everyone of course, and some may be more vocal than others, but we love you all!
Pretty new to this franchise and pretty invested, glad you’re keeping your community up to date and hoping for a smooth road from here on out!
And hopeful that I can get all 3 Derek body pillows in the future!
Thank you so much for all the support!
Does that mean I’ll be able to buy the Derek body pillows in the foreseeable future?
We can’t promise anything for sure, due to the constantly changing tariff situation, but we definitely would like to be able to offer them for sale at some point once we’ve delivered what we owe to our Kickstarter backers. We’ll do our best to find some way to offer them in the future!
I just wanna say, I enjoyed the first 2 Camp Buddy games you made. They were great. However as someone who have preordered Jock Studio, I’m sad to admit this post has made me lose all interest in the game. Even when it eventually comes out, I won’t even play it now. Good Luck in the future Blits Team.
Thank you very much for your comment. We apologize that this information has caused you disappointment and disinterest for Jock Studio. We will continue to develop the game to the quality we uphold, and hopefully when it comes out we can satisfy you with a completed game!
When will jock studio demo 2 be downloadable on mobile?
Have you thought about releasing Jock Studio gradually, instead of all at once. Like as an example, finish 1 or 2 routes completely and release them, And push most of the the mini games and features to after a release. I’m just afraid people will lose interest if its not coming out until 2030 or something.
We have considered it before, but unfortunately with the way the different routes are structured and the overall gameplay, coming out with a fully-fleshed and completed game is our best option in terms of quality! We hope to provide content to that fans while Jock Studio is in development.
I’m sorry to hear that you need more money, because the amount you got is not enough. But happy to hear you are working on other games to try to raise emore money.
I know that you are trying to inovate, but maybe, just maybe, focus on developing what you are known for, like the animated sex scenes, the movement and that part. Try to make it more visual and easy for us to play.
We know is a dating simulator, but we fell in love with your games because of the stories, and sex scenes, you make. Focus on that and it’ll be a lot easier. The puppet thing is “fun”, but it is difficult and not needed that much for the game. It is not so appealing.
Do what you know how to do, because it is easy, but make it better. Do not try to inovate, when if shows difficulties you cannot achieve with the efforts you are able to provide
I hope you understand what I’m trying to say
As always, sending love to you.
We have generously received a lot of support through the campaign of Jock Studio, and due to the extensive complexity of the project, we are requiring more time and manpower to complete the game to the quality we uphold.
However, thank you for your suggestion. We admit that we tried to innovate with Jock Studio and explore game development in a deeper level, ultimately requiring more development time and resources. We will continue to play with our strengths and ensure future projects do not explore too much complexity.
Thank you for taking time to deliver us constructive feedback while expressing your support!
We understand how the tariff issue could affect the project. One fundraising idea beyond online fundraising would be to create BL stories featuring characters from both Jock Studio and Camp Buddy and sell them digitally. Another aspect to consider is making a direct sequel to Camp Buddy a year or two after the events of the first games, featuring the characters with new looks, new routes, and new scenes. It’s also worth including secret routes if, for example, you finish the game with all the available characters.
I also remember that selling digitally to other markets would be great, investing in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Mandarin, and Japanese to reach new audiences, and investing in social media advertising to reach new customers.
I’m excited and hope to be able to play Jock Studios at least until 2028. Until then, I’ll be campaigning here.
Thank you for your suggestions and support! Regarding translations, they are something which is commonly requested, and we understand the desire for our games to be in other languages. We are currently focused on finishing core development of Jock Studio, but I can assure you that we will be researching and determining the feasibility of translations after core development is complete. While we can’t promise anything, we know how important they are to our fans and we want to at least look into them after the main development!
Thank you for your comment
I manage to play Jock studio Demo in English now,but I was hoping play Jock studio in different languages, even if it will take a few years

Good
I have a friend from Macao
Im sorry i can agree with the Challenges of make a enjoyable game considering we don’t even ask for deadlines to you team, but you say “we needed 1M dollars” in a Visual novel with some point and click elements on a 50k kickstarter that got 560k in 2023, is a lot of bananas to me, good thing your fans are crazily in love with your games and support it a lot, but you guys were cleary irresponsable with this game scope and features creep more than what you should, be more reponsable next time, you guys aren’t making the next BG3 to say you need that kind of money.
Your concerns are valid, and we openly admit that we could have probably made some decisions differently. However, labeling Jock Studio as a ‘visual novel with point and click elements’ is not true – Jock Studio is a full-blown dating simulator, with a free roaming system, statistics, multiple minigames, 6 pursuable characters, and many more features. The original goal on Kickstarter was indeed a Visual Novel, but it has expanded much further beyond that thanks to the amazing funding and stretch goals we achieved.
Additionally, regarding the budget, while we understand that number sounds large, development is expensive. Due to the expanded nature of Jock Studio, BLits is not just 3-5 people working on games, but instead a full team of 15-20 active members, each of whom needs to be compensated fairly for their work. We ensure our employees are always paid fairly for all the hard work they put into the game, and us explaining this budget it what it realistically costs to create a game of this scale.
I love you,Blit teams everyone.I think your games were wonderful.I will support you forever.
I love black monkey games! I am very eager to pay for them again if they get some amout of retouch and remaster, which I hope so!
I think a great way to gather more support would be to adapt games like Camp Buddy: Scoutmaster and Jock Studios for the Spanish-speaking audience. I’m from Latin America and have been following BLits Games since Camp Buddy. At first, I didn’t buy it because it was only in English, but when I finally gave it a try, I fell in love with the game. Since then, I’ve supported every release. I’m sure many people here would also enjoy them if they were available in Spanish. We still hope to see Camp Buddy: Scoutmaster translated one day. Thank you, BLits Games, I truly love your games, they’ve never let me down, and your letters always make me feel part of the journey. 💖
Thank you so much for your support and suggestion.
Unfortunately, translation of a script/story-heavy game such as visual novels requires a lot of time and resources. Currently our focus remains on creating the completed base game for Jock Studio as well as side projects to create more content to the fans while the wait goes on.
I hope everything goes well
Thank you for your encouragement!
I can’t wait for the next development update yay!!!!
Thank you for your support!
There is some possibility that Camp Buddy could release on Steam?
Please be sure to produce a batch of Yoichi’s handicrafts. At present, the price in the Chinese market is far higher than the price on sale at that time, so please resume the production of a batch.
—
I really wish there could be another Camp Buddy game released.
This time, I’d love to see a sequel featuring Goro, Hiro, Natsumi, and the others—
but with no particular camp theme. Instead, the story could take place when they’re around 27 years old, showing how their lives and relationships have developed.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much for all your efforts all along! I will always support you!
Thank you very much for your support <3
Oh wow, that means were possibly getting a bacchikoi sequel from blits?? Woah
move at your own pace and thank you for all of your hard work, BLits!!
Thank you for understanding, we will always do our best!
I want to pay tribute to you on my behalf, how much effort, time and energy you put into this for all of us. You have my full admiration. I am especially happy for your regular announcements and news.
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support. We’ll make sure to continue communicating with our fans!
It’s really great that you’re so transparent, both when talking about updates on the stages of game production and also about the tougher things that must be discouraging for you as well. I’ve bought all the games, so now I’m just waiting for the re-release of the older titles and, finally, the launch of Jock Studio and Seven Nexus. Much love to everyone involved in creating these beautiful visual novels!
We’re glad that you appreciate this gesture from our team. It is difficult whenever we have to deliver news that us, developers, are also heartbroken with. However, with encouraging words and support from the fans, we can always persevere. We’ll keep doing our best and ensure we don’t compromise the quality of our work!
I am incredibly excited for jock studio and the black monkey side projects! Will be sure to support and play the game when they come out! Thanks for your hard work and for being transparent! Blitz always cook peak games I’m so hyped!
Thank you very much for your support! We’ll always do our best!
Thank you for the update
Thanks for the update and for all your hard work! I watch a lot of the art streams so I see how much work goes into hand drawing each and every one of the characters. This is definitely coming from a place of love and hard work so many wouldn’t see.
Hopefully the global tariff thing resolves because I’d love some physical merch. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your support! Leaving comments of encouragement helps us a long way. We’ll always do our best and make sure not to compromise the quality of our works!
Amazing work Everyone, really love the Letter and the openeness about everything! Hope everything works out for you guys. Looking forward to all the upcoming games.
Thank you so much for your support and understanding!
